Selection rules

A Starter selection is persistent and contains at most 20 competitions out of the 56 in the catalog. Two selected competition changes are allowed per calendar month, in Europe/Paris. There is no public selection-management endpoint yet.

• An offseason or temporarily unavailable competition remains selected and keeps its slot.
• No slot is released automatically.
• A selected competition with no current match returns 200 and matches: [].
• A known but unselected competition returns 403 competition_not_selected.
• An unknown catalog code returns 404 competition_not_found.

catalog_status is the commercial selection authority. activity_status, available and matches_available describe the currently published API match feed; they do not determine whether a competition is selectable and are not a complete season/calendar state.

The 56 competitions

The catalog contains 54 club competitions, plus the 2026 World Cup and international friendlies.
